June is turning out to be a month of two halves for many steel scrap merchants in Germany. Prices climbed by €20 or more in the first half of the month. Many prices subsequently crumbled, sometimes returning to May's level or sometimes retaining €5 to €10 per tonne. The fate of the market in July is not yet clear. Higher prices are not being ruled out. However, "slightly lower to unchanged" prices are felt to be probable.
