EP Committee objects to proposed calculation methods for chemical recycling

In a narrow vote at their meeting in Brussels today, the members of the European Parliament's Environment Committee backed a resolution containing objections to the European Commission's draft Implementing Decision setting out how the recycled content of plastics is to be calculated. Altogether, 26 MEPs voted in favour of the motion, 24 voted against and three abstained. 

It is now expected that the motion for a resolution will be tabled for a vote in next week's plenary session.

The Commission's draft lays out rules under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) on how the content of recycled material in plastic is calculated and verified if this material comes from chemical recycling processes....
