The position of the European Union at the upcoming 10th conference of the parties to the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and the final assessment of the 6th EU Environmental Action Programme are among the topics to be discussed by the EU member states’ environment ministers on Monday 10 October. Items on the agenda for the first formal Environmental Council meeting under the Polish EU presidency also include the positions for the UN climate conference in late November and early December in Durban, South Africa and for the UN conference on sustainable development in June 2012 in Rio, Brazil.
