New Regulations coming into effect on 1 September will increase the price of both landfilling and incinerating municipal waste in Ireland. The country's Department of the Environment announced last week that a "waste recovery levy" of €10 per tonne will be introduced, while the existing landfill levy will see an increase of €10 per tonne, bringing it to €85 per tonne. In an effort to limit the cost impact on the construction sector, the recovery levy will not initially apply to construction and demolition (C&D) waste.
