Viridor appoints engineering firms and allocates £20m to Runcorn CCUS project

The British waste management company Viridor is moving forward with plans for a carbon capture project to be installed at its Runcorn energy recovery facility (ERF) located outside of Liverpool. The energy from waste (EfW) plant operator is now progressing to the detailed design phase, having committed to spending over £20m (ca. €24m) and selecting its engineering services providers. Technip Energies has been awarded the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract, and Fichtner is to provide owner's engineering (OE) services, Viridor said last week.

The investment commitment and the signing of the engineering contracts come shortly after Viridor's announcement that it has agreed a statement of principles with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) for the Runcorn carbon capture and storage (CCS) project....
