The Finnish company Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto (LSJH) has started up a new pilot line for textile recycling at its facility in Paimio in Southern Finland. According to the Austrian technology supplier Andritz, the newly installed Exel tearing machine for post-consumer textile waste can process up to 500 kg/h for spinning quality and up to 1 t/h for nonwoven fibre quality. Andritz explained that the process had been designed to ensure that all metallic materials in the fibres and all hard, non-textile items had been removed through the cleaning devices, highly sensitive metal traps, and metal detectors....
