Charges filed in theft case at copper group Aurubis

The public prosecutor’s office in Hamburg, Germany has filed charges against an alleged gang of thieves for stealing precious metals from copper producer and recycler Aurubis. Five people are accused of grand larceny or commercial fencing of stolen goods as part of a gang, another person is accused of aiding and abetting grand larceny. The main hearing in the Hamburg district court is scheduled to start on 12 December.

Based on initial findings, this case is not thought to be connected to the suspected fraud case affecting Aurubis's recycling activities which was disclosed by the company at the end of August.
