Itelyum, an Italian company specialising in the management of liquid industrial waste, has acquired a significant stake in the firm Plasta Rei with the aim of becoming a major producer of chemically recycled PET in its home country. Itelyum and Plasta Rei say they are building an "advanced chemical recycling plant" in Cisterna di Latina, southeast of Rome, which will recycle PET waste derived primarily from food packaging but also from textiles.
The aim is to produce PET regranulate, according to Itelyum, which is a portfolio company of Stirling Square Capital Partners LLP and Deutsche Beteiligungs AG....
