Paper and board packaging producers and users will have to pay a higher environmental levy in Italy. By contrast, the "contributo ambientale" (CAC) for wood and glass packaging will be reduced. Conai, the Italian consortium of packaging suppliers and converters, announced in late July that the contribution for paper and board packaging will be raised from currently €5/t to €35/t from 1 October. The organisation said this was due to several factors, including a decline in revenue from recovered paper sales....
