The Dutch waste management company Ortessa will acquire a stake in the plastic recycler Blue Plastics and supply it with waste plastics. TCR Plastics, which is already a Blue Plastics shareholder, will be responsible for marketing the new raw materials, Ortessa announced at the end of May. The company did not disclose the size of its stake in the recycler or any of the financial arrangements.
According to Ortessa, Blue Plastics has developed an innovative, solvent-based washing technology for plastic waste. The closed-loop CleanBlueTech (CBT) technology removed odours, glue, printing ink and organic residues. The process consumed 70 per cent less energy than primary production and used no water. Blue Plastics’ end product was a transparent and odour-free granulate with nearly the same quality as primary plastic, Ortessa reported....
