Fost Plus awards sorting residues processing contract to Vanheede

Starting next year, the Belgian waste management company Vanheede Environment Group is to process residues generated at sorting facilities for packaging waste managed by the Fost Plus extended producer responsibility (EPR) system. Representing an investment of €35m, the contract would run for five years, said Fost Plus and Vanheede on Monday in a joint statement.

"Today we recycle 95 per cent of the packaging that our members place on the market. This is already a significant proportion, but it's not enough. Additional efforts are needed to return the remaining packaging to the circular economy. The final stretch is always the most difficult," said Fost Plus managing director Wim Geens....
