LyondellBasell and Mensing Group to recycle PE film scrap

The chemicals group LyondellBasell and Mensing Group, which is active in the recycling of plastics, and have formed a joint venture to produce regranulate from post-consumer PE packaging film in Germany. Mensing subsidiary AFA Nord GmbH and LyondellBasell, the world’s third-largest producer of polyolefins, established the 50-50 joint venture, LMF Nord GmbH, which is based in Hohenwestedt. The planned venture was reported to the German Federal Cartel Office in early May and got the green light on 17 May.

According to a press release from the partners, LMF plans to construct a recycling plant which can produce around 26,000 tpa of regranulate from LLDPE and LDPE film scrap. The investment sum is reportedly around €30m. Production is expected to start in early 2025....
