Metals recycler Derichebourg forecasts earnings downturn after cyber attack

The French metals recycler Derichebourg no longer expects to hit its Ebitda forecast for the current financial year. The company now predicts that it will post somewhere between €300m to €310m in recurring earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (recurring Ebitda) in 2023/24. Its previous target, of at least €350m, was set last December.

The group revised its financial forecast in the wake of a cyberattack which took place last November, but said the current economic climate was also a contributing factor.

In a business update released on 16 April, Derichebourg reported that its purchases of metal waste had decreased by around 5 per cent in the first half of its financial year, which ran from the start of October 2023 to the end of March 2024. The company also provided an estimate of the financial impact of the cyberattack, which had been "greater than initially anticipated"....
