French recycling and waste management group Paprec is expanding its presence in Spain through the acquisition of Barcelona-based environmental services provider CLD. The Sorigué Group, which CLD was part of, and GBI Paprec announced the conclusion of an agreement to this effect early last week. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Alongside multiple large contracts throughout Catalonia, CLD is responsible for waste collection and street cleaning in three districts of Barcelona with a total population of 400,000. According to Sorigué and Paprec, CLD also has a strong presence in Lleida and Tarragona and recently branched out into waste sorting following the opening of a new plant in Barberá del Vallés near Barcelona that has an annual capacity of around 80,000 tonnes.
Earlier in July, Paprec also announced a take-over in its home market of France. The company acquired the metals recycler Cernay Environnement and its subsidiary Alsadis, which specialises in hazardous waste management....
