The revision of the Waste Shipping Regulation should "prioritise the EU recycling market" for plastics, by both keeping plastic waste in the EU and making it easier to ship plastic waste between member states. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the industry association Plastics Europe called for the removal of hinderances to intra-EU waste shipments. These obstacles "reduce the amount of input into recycling facilities and consequently the availability of recycled plastics for the plastics value chain and discourage further investment in recycling infrastructure and innovative new technologies, such as chemical recycling"....
