Plastics Recyclers Europe: Energy crisis puts circular economy at risk

High electricity prices are putting the transition to a circular economy at risk, said the association Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE), warning that without government intervention, many recycling businesses could go under amid the deepening European energy crisis.

PRE's president Ton Emans warned that stopping recycling activities would have "an immediate, negative impact" on plastic waste management. “If we want to drive a circular economy in Europe, plastic recycling must be considered a key industry sector to be targeted by member states’ efforts to protect from the impact of high electricity prices,” he said....
