The European plastics and chemical value chain is now making a coordinated push for the formal recognition of chemical recycling of plastic waste. In an open letter to the European Commission, 31 associations and companies called for the adoption of EU harmonised calculating rules for recycled content by means of mass balance before the end of the year. The letter is also addressed to the EU member state governments. Signatories from within the recycling industry included national take-back systems for packaging waste such as DSD, ARA and Valpak as well as the industry association Chemical Recycling Europe (CRE)....
