Mixed price trends on the German non-ferrous scrap market and volatility in the LME

The LME copper price was particularly volatile last week. A sharp fall at the beginning of the week was followed by a recovery toward the close of the trading week. Price movements in the non-ferrous scrap metal market were more moderate.

According to news service MBI, the wholesale buying-in price for copper and brass scrap rose in the working week commencing 4 December. The price of old zinc scrap stagnated, while prices for nickel chrome steel cuttings and old lead scrap softened....
