Non-ferrous scrap prices higher again amidst a volatile market

After substaintial gains in early September, copper prices on the London Metal Exchange trended sharply lower in the second half of last week. The market reversal had yet to impact scrap prices in Germany, however and merchants reported that prices rose again in the business week commencing 12 September.

According to news service MBI, wholesale buying in prices for copper scrap grades rose by €10-15 per 100 kilograms last week. In contrast, prices for nickel chrome steel scrap, old lead scrap and aluminum scrap have fallen....
