The importance of British exports of refuse-derived fuels (RDF) for the European waste incineration market is still waning, the decline in export volumes has slowed. Between 2021 and 2022, exports from England fell by just under 4 per cent to around 1.44 million tonnes, according to recently published data from the Environment Agency. Shipments of waste from England have dropped off particularly sharply to Germany and the Netherlands for years. The main destination country for England's waste exports is now Sweden.
