Last November, the European Commission tabled its proposed amendments to the EU Waste Shipments Regulation (WSR), which would introduce stricter requirements for exports to countries outside the European Union. Now the EU Parliament’s rapporteur Pernille Weiss published her draft report with changes and additions to the Commission proposal in late April.
The Parliament’s Environment Committee will address this report at its meeting on 11 May. A Committee vote on the amendments put forward by Ms Weiss and other members is tentatively scheduled for October and will be followed by a vote in the EU Parliament’s plenary.
