Ecobat wants to increase recycling capacity for lithium-ion batteries in Europe

The lead and battery supplier Ecobat wants to significantly expand its recycling capacity for lithium-ion batteries (LIB) in Europe, Simon Cupples, Ecobat’s Vice President Advanced Battery Solutions, told EUWID in early June. The group already has a footprint in England, Germany and France and wants to expand its LIB recycling activities in the three countries. Mr Cupples especially highlighted Germany, saying the country was the “epicentre” of the group's e-mobility activities.

Ecobat already recycles LIB at its sites in Darlaston (near Birmingham) in England and Hettstedt (near Halle) in Germany. Ecobat took over the German site in the east of the country when it acquired battery recycler Promesa in summer 2021.
