EuRIC demands EU export ban for end-of-life tyres

Action needed to offset impact of pending restrictions on use in sport surface infill

The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) fears "catastrophic consequences" for tyre recyclers in Europe resulting from a REACH Committee decision that would restrict the use of polymeric infill materials, including crumb rubber. In a position paper issued at the end of July, the European recycling industry umbrella organisation highlights "the urgent and appalling situation" facing the industry and calls for the Commission to take corrective measures, such as a ban on the export of unprocessed waste tyres outside the EU.
