"Excellent" first-half results for Veolia

Despite the unfavourable macro-economic context, Veolia has significantly increased its turnover and earnings in the first half of the current year, with revenue reaching €22.75bn - an organic growth rate of 14 per cent, the French environmental group announced in Paris last week. Global waste management activities accounted for €7.34bn in turnover, and the company noted that this division had achieved organic growth of 3.3 per cent despite unchanged waste volumes and declining recyclate prices.

Ms Brachlianoff described the half-year results as "excellent" and said they were evidence of the company's strong “commercial dynamism and our operational excellence” and its low sensitivity to economic cycles. According to the CEO, the company’s strength lies in the complementary nature of its three business areas (water, waste and energy), its diversified international presence with 40 per cent of its activities outside Europe, and its leadership position in strategic markets....
