UK planning authority seeking "further clarification" on MVV EfW plant permit

Less than 24 hours after announcing that a decision had been made to grant planning permission for MVV Environment's planned Medworth Energy from Waste (EfW) plant in Cambridgeshire, the UK's Planning Inspectorate removed the design consent decision letter from its website. A spokesperson for the Inspectorate told EUWID on Wednesday that "further clarification is being sought on the Medworth Energy from Waste Combined Heat and Power Facility Development Consent Decision". Similar text appeared on the Inspectorate's website late in the day. The project has been the subject of significant local opposition.

Named for the ward in which it would be located, the Medworth EfW combined heat and power (CHP) facility is to be located in the Algores Way Industrial Estate near Wisbech. Within the estate, the plant would be located on a site that currently houses a waste transfer station, with part of the facility extending onto adjacent scrubland....
