Czechia announces state funding for waste infrastructure projects

The Czech Environment Ministry has announced that it will be awarding almost half a billion koruna (ca. €21m) in funding for the development of waste management infrastructure. New calls for proposals through the Environment Operational Programme 2021-2027 were being issued for projects in the areas of "waste sorting and re-sorting" and chemical recycling, the ministry announced last week. It is hoped that the financial support will get more innovative waste projects off the ground, thereby fostering a sustainable circular economy and promoting the efficient use of resources.

"We are moving the Czech Republic towards more efficient waste management. Innovative and sustainable solutions will help, for example, municipalities, public institutions, schools or interest groups, but also entrepreneurs or companies," said environment minister Petr Hladík....
