German copper group Aurubis announced late Thursday that it identified "considerable discrepancies" in its metal inventories. The company explained that the shortfalls were uncovered in the course of a scheduled review and involved target inventory as well as individual samples from specific shipments of input materials for the recycling area. Aurubis believes itself to be the target of criminal activity. A criminal investigation involving other suspected metal thefts on a much smaller scale was made public in June of this year....
