"Solid volumes and prices" in Veolia’s waste business

French environmental group Veolia reports strong growth in revenue for its world-wide waste management operations. Both acquisitions and "solid volumes and prices” contributed to the increase, according to the company’s half-year report presented today in Paris. The waste operations raised their turnover by seven per cent to €5bn in the first half of the current year.

The group recorded growth in waste management revenue in all world regions where it is active. CEO Antoine Frérot underlined "very strong” growth in "new businesses”, in particular hazardous waste, where revenue was up 13 per cent, and plastics recycling with 30 per cent growth. Absolute figures for these operations were not disclosed.
